The site, located at Stanworth Farm off Finnington Lane, offers a major opportunity to deliver in the region of 800 new jobs and attract around 480 additional jobs in the local area in support services, representing a significant new investment to Chorley and Blackburn.
With 1.3 million sq ft of high quality, flexible commercial space proposed across two large warehouse units, this site can help create long-lasting employment for local people, as well as including apprenticeship and work experience opportunities. These spaces would be ideal for major businesses as a regional hub here in Lancashire.
This scheme is designed to meet identified demand for additional employment floorspace regionally and locally within Chorley, providing specific opportunity to meet large scale logistics requirements in Chorley’s preferred area of search along the M65 corridor which provides excellent connectivity for businesses.
Beneficiaries of the development will include people who are looking for work living in Chorley, Blackburn and surrounding areas; those in low paid positions seeking better paid, more secure work; those working in the construction sector; and, groups that experience persistent rates of above-average unemployment.
The proposal will also provide work and opportunities to support sectors and business, in the form of local business rates to Chorley Borough contributing nearly £400m of economic value to the local economy.
A public consultation has now been launched to gain feedback on the proposals. To have your say, please read more about the proposals and provide your comments.
